Self-identified means if a student (parent/guardian) identifies themselves as having Indigenous ancestry then they qualify to receive service from Indigenous Education Services.
No one is required to provide 'proof' of ancestry when they self declare (e.g. Status card.) Indigenous ancestry can go back several generations and the student may not look Indigenous.
All language courses offered through Navigate are worth 4 credits on the BC Ministry of Education graduation plan. The Navigate language courses that usually meet the university and college second language requirement are: Arabic 11, French 11, German 11, Italian 11, Japanese 11, Korean 11, Mandarin Chinese 11, Russian 11, Spanish 11
